1) Hunan Embroidery
One of China's four famous styles of embroidery, Hunan Embroidery has a history of over 2,000 years. Through various colors of threads and changeable stitches, Hunan Embroidery is famous for figures, animals, landscapes, flowers and birds, which are all vivid and lifelike. The most celebrated works of Hunan Embroidery are the hanging panels of Tigers, Lions and Birds Adoring the Phoenix.
2) Chrysanthemum Stone Curving
Carved with chrysanthemum-shaped stone materials, the ink slabs, small animals, vases, tea sets and smoking sets show the high folk stone-carving techniques of Hunan Province. The famous stone works include Ode to the Plum Blossom by Huang Chao, and a Fairy Spreading Flowers.
They are small handiworks made of palm leaves. Palm tree, a kind of evergreen trees, has been planted in all villages of Changsha County. Folk artisans collect palm leaves, and weave them into all kinds of insect and animal shapes, such as birds, insects, shrimps, cranes, snakes, frogs and so on. These handicrafts are so natural and vivid as though it were living. Therefore, they are honored as “one of the three greats in Jiangnan (regions south of the Yangtze River)”.

The fireworks and firecrackers industry of Liuyang has a production history of more than 1,300 years. The fireworks and firecrackers made in Liuyang enjoy a world-renowned reputation because of their unique technology, variety, artistic packaging, gorgeous sparklers, melodious sounds, and safety assurance. The fireworks and firecrackers industry is the biggest manual industry in Liuyang and it is said that, among ten families, there are nine producing fireworks and firecrackers.
