Fuping Pottery Art Village is located in Qiaoshan Road of FupingCounty. Fule International Ceramic Museums of Modern Ar is a part of the Pottery Art Village. The ensemble constitutes the only museum, nationwide, for contemporary ceramics. It is also unique in its appearance.
The entire landscape of museums is edged and permeated by about hundred hectares of orchards, thus maintaining the characteristics of constructions close to theShaanxifarmlands and to nature. With a floor space of 806 hectares, as well as with 20,000 m² of covered halls, which were conceived as raw “brick temples” (Dome Halls=or as “brick tunnels’
These halls showcase more than 10,000 pieces of modern art: sculptures, pictures, objects of art conceived, moulded , to a large extent from ceramic clays, done by more than 500 Chinese and foreign artists from over 50 countries worldwide, who spent here a couple of months in a sort of voluntary seclusion, to spar – everyone with his/her own cultural backdrop and inherited way of thinking – with the towering presence of the old Chinese culture. And results are – more often than not - impressive, agitating, phantastic!
The halls were jointly conceived by the “Futo Group” cum “Beijing Letao”, and sponsored by the nations –or groups of nations - the artists originate from: The Us-hall being the most important one in size, the British hall hosting also some other European artists, the hall for the Nordic European Artists, the Hall for Chinese Artists, the Australasian Hall, the French hall.
For all deliberate roughness and rural approach of the immediate environment of this construction, the visit to Fule is a categorical MUST; for Chinese, to experience the sparring with feelings and mentalities, expressed in art objects; a MUST also for educated foreigners, to spar with a mature, though endemically developed culture, with results of such contention expressed in the shape of clay.
Fule International Ceramic Museums of Modern Art, the Art promoting Host-Group, aims at promoting the development and exchange of contemporary ceramics, in host group or solo exhibitions, and collects/ exhibits top level ceramic works permanently.
