His hometown is located in Cuiheng Village, Nanlang Town, Zhongshan City, Guangdong Province. It is about 20 kilometers from Zhongshan City and adjacent to Hong Kong and Macau. To better commemorate Sun and display his childhood environment and revolutionary activities, the birth place of Sun Yat-sen has been developed into a large tourism area covering a total area of 3.15 square kilometers.

What to see?
The Tourism Area of Sun Yat-sen’s Hometown includes four parts: the Museum of Dr. Sun Yat-sen, Cuiheng Village, Zhongshan Town, and the Memorial Park of the 1911 Revolution.

Museum of Dr. Sun Yat-sen
The Museum of Dr. Sun Yat-sen was established in November 1956. It includes the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall and the Former Residence. The Former Residence of Sun Yat-sen is a two-storey brick and wood structure that combines Chinese and Western styles. There is a “Former Residence of Sun Yat-sen” woodcut plaque written by Sun’s wife Soong Ching-ling on the south side of the main entrance.

Zhongshan Town
Zhongshan Town is a theme cultural tourism attraction that integrates tourism, sightseeing and film production. There are five major sections in Zhongshan Town: the Chinese, Japanese, British, and American Scenic Areas, plus the Exhibition Hall Area. All in all, they contain sixty-three different attractions. More than ten performances are scheduled each day. The Town integrates content from Dr. Sun’s revolutionary sites in China and around the world, and reflects the process of China’s democratic revolution led by Dr. Sun. It also shows the regional culture represented by Zhongshan City, Guangdong Province.

The Memorial Park of the 1911 Revolution
The Memorial Park of the 1911 Revolution in the birth place of Sun Yat-sen is a theme park covering an area of about 1.3 hectares (3.3 acres). It integrates elements of Sun, the 1911 Revolution, leisure and entertainment. The construction combines both Chinese and Western styles. In addition to a variety of flowers and trees, the park has a Chinese-style gallery with gray tiles, a western-style pavilion with round arches, and various reliefs and stone statues. The walkway in the park is covered with small stones and there is a creek surrounding the lawn in the center of the park.

Cuiheng Village
In Cuiheng Village, the private houses adjacent to the Former Residence of Sun Yat-sen are restored to imitate the houses of the late Qing Dynasty (1644 - 1911 AD). It vividly reproduces the living conditions of all classes of society in Cuiheng Village, and helps visitors understand more deeply the childhood environment of Sun. It also lets visitors appreciate some of the folk customs of the Pearl River Delta region.
