Anyang City, located in the northernmost of Henan Province, sitting at the joint of three provinces Shanxi, Hebei and Henan, is, also known as Yin or Ye in ancient dynasties, just leans on the lofty Taihang Mountain in the west and stretches to the vast expanse of North China Plain in the east. With a history of more than 3300 years, the famous historic and cultural city of Anyang was once a center of early Chinese civilization, one of China’s eight ancient capital cities, home of oracle bone inscriptions, and also a Chinese outstanding tourism city, a nationally designated garden city and the city of China’s air sports.

History of Anyang
About 14th century B.C., the king of Shang Dynasty (16th -11th century B.C.) Pan Geng moved the capital from Qufu (of Shandong Province) to Yin (in today’s Anyang) and held power until the dynasty perished. It is the earliest capital that be confirmed in China. The name of Anyang began in late Warring States (476 - 221 B.C.) when the First Emperor of Qin unified China and set up Anyang County. Though the name was changed to be Xiangzhou from 401 by North Wei Dynasty (368 - 534) and late to be Zhangde from 1192 by Jin Dynasty (1115 - 1234), Anyang County regained its name in 1913, and established as Anyang City in 1949. Being a capital of seven dynasties with a city history of over 3300 years, Anyang is the center of early Chinese civilizations. It is the home of earliest Chinese character, oracle bones inscriptions, the headstream of the Book of Changes, the location of China’s Character Museum, the spirit of Red Flag Canal, and the Gao Mausoleum of Cao (155-220), the Emperor Wu of Wei. Further more, the city of Anyang is the localities of many a famous historical events. 


What to see in Anyang?
With its important role in Chinese history, Anyang boasts a lot of valuable historical and cultural relics. Here visitors can find the world heritage site, the Yin Dynasty ruins and it’s a series unearthed cultural articles. It is the excavated location of Chinese earliest character, oracle bones inscriptions, and the largest bronze ware in the world, the Houmuwu Ting (an ancient cooking vessel made in late Shang Dynasty). Serving as a Chinese outstanding tourism city, Anyang is proud of its historic heritages, and at the same time, strives to become better and develop in other industries; it is now a nationally designated garden city and the city of Chinese air sports.

When to visit Anyang?
Anyang belongs to typical warm temperate semihumid continental monsoon climate with four distinctive seasons. With sufficient sunlight and an annual average temperature of 14.9 Celsius degree, the extreme maximum air temperature once reached to 43.2 Celsius degree in Anyang, and the extreme minimum temperature once lowered to -21.7 Celsius degree. It has moderate rainfall and the annual precipitation is general 606mm.
With warm spring, hot and rainy summer, cool autumn, frigid and dry winter, the best season to travel in Anyang falls in spring and autumn.


How to get to Anyang?

By Air:   Anyang has no civil airport and serves by Xinzheng International Airport of Zhengzhou, which is about 210 kilometers away.  Anyang Yudongbei Airport, a general aviation and an alternate aerodrome of Zhengzhou Xinzheng Airport, is located in Wagang Town, Tangyin County, 28 kilometers from downtown Anyang.

By Railway:  Anyang Train Station, established in 1905, is located on the west end of Jiefang Road. It has daily trains bounding for many major domestic cities, such as Beijing, Zhengzhou, Guangzhou, Shenyang, Chongqing, Baotou, Hankou, Taiyuan, Tianjin, Wuchang, Panzhihua, Changchun, Guilin, Xi’an, etc. Public bus No.2, 3, 5, 7, 16, 17, 20, 22, 26, 28, and 37 can take passengers to the station.
Anyang East Train Station is a high speed rail station, or a station special for Beijing-Guangzhou Railway. It is the station in the most northern part of Zhangzhou Railway as well as the Henan Province.

By Bus : Anyang Long-distance Bus Station is just located in the south of Anyang Train Station, with coaches departing for major cities in the province as well as surrounding provinces, such as Zhengzhou, Luoyang, Kaifeng, Beijing, Taiyuan, Tianjin, Xinxiang, Hebi, Jinan, Liaocheng, Heze, etc. It takes about 3 hours drive to Zhengzhou, 4.5 hours to Taiyuan, 6 hours to Beijing, 7 hours to Jinan and 10 hours to Tianjin.
Anyang East Coach Station is located in Renmin Avenue in East District, West Station is located in the west section of Angang Wenfeng Avenue, North Station is located in Baizhuang, and South Station is located in the middle section of Changjiang Avenue in High-tech District; each has daily coaches bounding for cities in its corresponding direction.
