The charmingly naive giant panda, one of the most popular rare animals, is one of the most emblematic symbols of the World Wildlife Fund. About 85% of the giant pandas, known as the “National Treasure” of China, inhabit the high mountains of northwestern Sichuan, and Sichuan is known as “the Hometown of Giant Pandas”.
Where to see Pand?
There are currently 18 giant panda nature reserves in China, including 16 in Sichuan. The
Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding is established in northeastern
Chengdu. The Wolong Giant Panda Nature Reserve, 136 km away from Chengdu, is one of the three major nature reserves in
China, and contains a "Research Center for Giant Pandas" established by the World Wildlife Fund. Baoxing Fengtongzhai Nature Reserve, which is more than 300 kilometers away from Chengdu, is the first place in the world to discover giant pandas.
