Fotang Ancient Town

Fotang Ancient Town is located on the south part of Yiwu City, Zhejiang Province, China. It takes about 10 km driving from Yiwu downtown. It is the biggest ancient town in Yiwu. There are hundreds of ancient housing and dwellings gathered in this town, thus it’s actually an ancient housing complex, famous for its outstanding architecture, carving and painting.

The outer appearance is classic Huizhou-style (a cultural school popular among Huangshan City, Jixi County and Wuyuan County), but the inner decorations and constructions combine local skill of wood carving, brick carving and stone carving as well.
In this town, precious historical relics can be found here and there. If you are interested, you can visit Mao’s Courtyard, Former Wu’s Residence, Liu Xuan Primary School and You Long Memorial Hall, etc. Those are typical local residential houses in town with a long history. You may walk in lanes to feel the peaceful and leisure life of this place.

How to get there: You may take Bus Route 311 or 316 to get to Jiting Housing Estate Station first(稽亭小区), then walk forward according to the road signs and you will reach the town.
