What to Do in Zhangjiajie in November?

Enjoy the Scenery at Wulingyuan: In December, the fogs and mists drift among the tall spires of Wulingyuan creating an Avatar-like world that you can watch from the heights above. The spires and hills look more like a Chinese paintingthan ever. You can see the green-topped quartzite rock spires thrusting up from the fog below. One of the amazing rock pillars is 1,080 meters (3,544 feet) tall.

These rock formations are almost unique in the world, and the area was named a UNESCO Geopark highlighting the unusual geology. The park was honored with World Heritage listing in 1990, and it is a Chinese AAAAA site.

Ascend Tianmen Mounatin: A fine place to see the late fall scenery and the fog all around is Tianmenshan (天门山). Most people feel the mountain is themain attraction of the whole park. It is called Tianmenshan ('Heaven Gate Mountain') because there is a big hole in the middle of the mountain that looks like a big doorway in the sky. The hole is 131 meters high, 57 meters wide, and 60 meters long.

You can hike to the hole in about 20 minutes or hike up all the way to the top of the mountain in about two or three hours.

At the top of the mountain, there is a long glass sidewalk that stretches 600 meters along the side of the peak. It is a terrifying walk for many people when they can look down their feet to the ground a kilometer below them, which would be something to remember for a long time.

If you think the hike to the top is too difficult, there is an optional cable car ride with awesome and amazing views of the whole area that is included in the price of the admission ticket. You can also take the cable car to the middle platform and then get off for a 15 minute bus ride to the great hole.

Visit Yellow Dragon Cave:  If it is cold outside, you can keep warm in Yellow Dragon Cave. It is one of Asia's largest caves. It isn't gloomy either. Chinese caves are bright like neon lights.

The cave extends more than ten kilometers, and it is so big that there is a boat tour inside. You can also walk inside and get away from the crowds although it is slippery. The cave is damp inside, and the walking paths are slick. If you enjoy wandering around inside away from the tour groups, you'll see the glittering fantastically shaped stones, see dark ponds, and hear the musical sounds of the water drops.
