See the Scenery at Wulingyuan:

In December, the mists and fog drift among the tall spires of Wulingyuan creating anAvatar-like world that you can watch from the heights above. The cable car will help you see the beautiful scenery. You'll see the quartzite rock spires thrusting up from the fog below. One of the amazing rocky pillars is 1,080 meters (3,544 feet) tall.

These rock formations are fairly unique in the world, and the area was named a UNESCO Geopark to highlight the unusual geology. The park was also honored with World Heritage listing in 1990. It is a Chinese AAAAA site.


Visit Yellow Dragon Cave: When it is cold outside, you can keep warm in Yellow Dragon Cave. It is one of Asia's largest caves. It is brightly lit and isn't gloomy. The rocks, stalactites and stalagmites are brightly and colorfully highlighted.

The cave extends more than ten kilometers. You can walk on the walking paths inside and get away from the crowds. The cave is damp inside, and the walking paths are slick. So wear shoes with good traction if you go for a walk. When you walk away from the tour groups, you'll see the glittering and fantastically shaped rocks and dark ponds, and hear the musical sounds of the water drops.The cave system is so big, there is even a boat tour inside on the underground stream.

Hike in Tianmen Mountain: After get to the Tianmen Mountain by cable car, you can keep warm and have a good workout hiking up the stairs on Tianmen Mountain. Most people feel the mountain is the biggest attraction of the whole park. It is called Tianmenshan (Heaven Gate Mountain) because there is a natural tunnel in the middle of the mountain that looks like a big doorway in the sky. The tunnel is 131 meters high, 57 meters wide, and 60 meters long.

The hike to the hole takes about 20 minutes, and a hike all the way to the top is a two or three hour exertion. At the top of the mountain, there is a clear glass sidewalk that is suspended a kilometer above the valley below. It is 600 meters long and hugs the side of the peak. It is a terrifying walk for many people when they look down past their feet to the ground. A hike would be something you'll remember for a long time.

Bring a thick coat to stay warm. Windy days are even colder, so you'll need a head covering and gloves.

Keep safety by yourself

In Feburary, a coating of white snow adds another layer of beauty to the already beautiful scenery. You can go up to the top of the mountain by a spectacular long cable ride. The ride is a thrill, or you can go up on the stairs but you need keep safety while you walking. If the stairs are not slippery, it would make for a great hike. But make sure your shoes have good traction.
